Solutions
The strategies summarized here have been documented through research to reduce young driver crashes and injuries. These include state and community level policies, as well as certain community based programs that have been evaluated and shown to be effective. However, keep in mind the effectiveness of any strategy depends on how well it is implemented and maintained.
Also described are strategies where the effectiveness is unclear. These strategies were included because they appear promising. However, they have not yet been systematically evaluated to determine whether they reduce teen driver crashes or injuries.
Lastly, programs that are not effective at reducing teen driver crashes are described. These strategies should be avoided. Instead, efforts should be focused on approaches that are demonstrated effective or promising.
